Well. Adoption is not for the thin skinned! We are still waiting for our homestudy to be approved by DCFS. Once that is done then, and only then can we apply for our I600A. So we are waiting!
On a bit of a challenging note. We received an email yesterday stating the following:
At the end of the business day on March 10, 2010 (March 1, 2010 according to the Ethiopian calendar) the Ethiopian First Instance Federal Court posted a notice that, we have been told, will affect all prospective adoptive families who are waiting for adjournment.
Agencies were anticipating that a formal proclamation would be issued by the end of the week explaining the details of this notice and how it will be implemented, but on March 11, 2010 Dove was notified by our attorney that it appears that this is not going to happen.
Effective immediately prospective adoptive families must be present at the court hearing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
What does this mean? Well frankly, as far as the paperwork is concerned, I honestly do not know. I am trusting in our agency to walk us thru this. As for the reality, Len and I will have to go to Ethiopia, not once but twice! We both will have to be present at the court date. Then 6-8 weeks later one or both of us will return to bring our little one home. Disadvantage....traveling 23 hours in a plane four times. Advantage...seeing the beautiful Ethiopian countryside twice. Meeting our little one before the court date. Having time to spend with him twice in his home country.
Still trusting in the one who brought us to this point!
